Hi there, and hello from Germany!

Does anybody have the most ‘recent’ version of SHELL available?

After many, many years I’d like to play around with DP/Shell again, and
currently I have only SHELL 4.x

Thanks in advance!

Klaus

Hello Bruce, hoe ben jij Geert,

Thank you for the reply but I was able to download the utility files from
another link courtesy of Rich.

I was only thinking of the DP Order but the other utility files especially the
DPDiag proved to be even more helpful.

I am still amazed that even after all these decades I have yet to find a
“modern” database application comparable to the power, flexibility and ease of
design of DataPerfect. And believe me I tried. Some years ago I was involved
in a project to create a custom designed order processing system. DP was out
of the question because it was first and foremost a dinosaur of a DOS based
program. The direction the company took was MSSQL. The company spent several
months and over $200K and ended up with a product that did not truly fulfill
many of the original objectives. The programmers insisted what I wanted was
practically almost AI level of intuition. Here I am today using DP and
achieving many of the objectives I wanted back then and not spending ridiculous
amounts of money and time to do so. But to be frank, DP would probably be
useless to me today without Jos Schaars’ VDOS adaptation, as well as Tim Rude’s
DPSpool. It is truly a shame that WP did not continue to develop and better
market this product. Eventually moving on to a newer product would likely
happen someday, but not today.

I too miss the dataperfect.nl site but I don’t know if Udo is still maintaining
it. Brian Hancock mentioned a while back that he hasn’t been getting emails
from it anymore.

Thank you to all those who still supports DP.

Best to all,

Ed.

Unfortunately, all of the files that were once hosted on the sanbachs.net
compusofl site were lost many years ago when I switched internet providers. I
haven't taken down the compusofl site because it might have some historical
interest. However, the download section is basically empty. I regret the loss
of those files, and also miss the dataperfect.nl site, upon which I used to
rely. Does anyone know if it will become operational again?

Hi Ed,

dataperfect.nl seems to be down, indeed...

You may try Bruce Conrad's site: http://www.sanbachs.net/compusofl/download.html

Please note: the links are password-protected!
"If you have any problems downloading from this page or the FTP sites, please
contact me, Bruce Conrad, and I will make every attempt to make these files
available for you."...

Regards,

Geert

Does any one know where I can download the DP Utilities like DPORDER, etc? The
links in the DP website no longer works.

Thanks.

Ed.
