Try these keystrokes instead:
Alt-1 instead of Shift-Left
Alt-2 instead of Shift-Right
Alt-3 instead of Shift-Up
Alt-4 instead of Shift-Down
For each of these use the upper row 1 2 3 4 keys, not the numeric keypad
keys.
