*Needed immediately consultant* Job Title : Network Engineer for Voice Operations Role Location : New York, NY Duration : 6+ Months Contract **Cisco CCNP voice certification required In the role of Voice Network Engineer (Operations) you will work with the team to maintain and support the global voice network. You will provide network engineering and support skills to the region and work to meet business needs while maintaining established network standards. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Initiating, implementing and managing network changes for support or business requests Working as a lead technical voice resource on operational tasks within the region Providing network consultancy to other IT teams if and when required Maintaining and implementing the environment in accordance with established standards Building and updating network documentation Capacity planning & management (including proactive circuit utilisation analysis) Assisting to maintain existing network monitoring and management platforms Performing maintenance work following coordination with affected businesses Assisting in the development and execution of the team*s BCP/DR design and plan Appropriately using network monitoring and management platforms Assisting in vendor management in the operational space Performing background investigation to aid in any technical consulting functions Developing technical and financial options for presentation to businesses Escalating and handing off network support functions if and when appropriate Providing technical guidance for less experienced engineers Applicants should have a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role. They must have initiative and be comfortable working in a changing environment. In addition candidates must be able to perform under time pressure, be part of an on call roster and regularly work out of normal business hours, often with little notice. This role is ideal for self-starters who thrive off autonomy and are good at seizing opportunities. Ideally you will be qualified to degree level, hold a Cisco CCNP voice certification and have proven experience in a voice operations role. KEY SKILLS INCLUDE: Experience maintaining and supporting voice networks (IPTEL, TDM, Dealing Systems, voice recording & compliance) Hands-on experience configuring Cisco IPTEL (CUCM 6.1 and Unity 5.0) Basic operational understanding of both BT and IPC dealing systems Experience working and managing external parties (including but not limited to carriers, vendors, support partners, etc) Hands-on experience configuring and supporting Cisco switches, routers and firewalls Working knowledge of common network concepts, technologies and protocols: LAN, WAN, VPN, TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, SNMP, ISDN Basic knowledge of and experience in mitigating network security issues Planning and scheduling ability, as well as excellent communication skills General IT skills to assist when working with other technical teams Financial background is highly desired Best Regards, Allen Khan | Professional Recruiter Voice: 201-257-5081 x 289 Fax: 201-727-9296.
