NGS IT Application Developer
*Job Summary*
As a NetApp Programmer/Analyst within the NGS Business Application Delivery
team you are part of a team of professionals who design, develop, document,
test, debug, deploy, and support NGS IT systems. You will develop for a
specific call home functionality tool and work with the business owners of
the tool to understand requirements. A strong technical knowledge base and
project management skills are required for this position. Additionally, you
will work closely with teams within and across functions to understand
technical requirements. You must possess strong communication and
interpersonal skills.
*Essential Functions*
- Design, develop, document, unit test, debug, and deploy a NetApp custom
application that provides phone home support functionality. Design and
development tasks may be highly complex and impact multiple functional
areas.
- Participate in business requirements analysis
- Participate in, and provide input into weekly team meetings to align
projects/tasks with deliverable schedules. Communicate any issues that may
cause delays to committed scheduled.
- Responsible for unit test and code review of programs developed by
other developers on the staff.
- Manage and resolve escalated helpdesk trouble tickets for application
related issues.
- Develop and configure, tune, update, and troubleshoot the application.
- Work with other developers and IT administrators (e.g. QA, database,
server, network, etc.) to troubleshoot and resolve issues with same.
*Requirements*
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Extensive programming and development skills.
- Experience with the following technologies is required:
- Perl
- CGI
- J2EE
- Weblogic
- ASP, IIS
- Java
- Oracle DB
- SQL
- JMS
- Web services for SAP connectivity
- XML Beans
- Strong aptitude for learning new technologies and understanding how to
utilize them in a customer facing environment.
- Thorough understanding of the customer service functional business
areas, preferably with a phone home support product.
- Working knowledge of enterprise application system development
methodology and life cycle.
- In-depth understanding of:relational database concepts & internet
technologies & Unix/Linux operating system functions
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment of other
programmer/analysts cross functional peers to support deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other developers and IT team
members to support deadlines; ability to work independently as well.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently with competing deadlines.
- Good interpersonal skills needed to work with employees in other
functional areas.
- Experience with Apache web server installation and configuration in a
Unix environment.
- Experience with Unix shell or Perl scripting, gcc, make, ant, or other
open-source tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues even in unfamiliar
environments is an essential skill. **
- A minimum of 5 years of experience is required. 5 to 8 years of
experience is preferred. **
- Experience with any of the following is preferred: **
- Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, moderately complex
technical tasks. **
