Job Title : ETL Developer with Datastage
Location : Jersey City, NJ
Duration : 6-12 months Contract
Rate : Open
This position is for an ETL Architect /Developer with proven track record to
be part of dynamic development team with a focus on Business Intelligence
Solutions. This individual will be responsible for ETL processes and tools
as well as database loading and manipulation to ensure that the data needs
are met throughout the course of the projects.
Financial/Insurance experience needed
Responsibilities
* Design, develop, test, debug, implement and maintain ETL workflows, shell
scripts, and stored procedures to support new solution development
* Provide ongoing maintenance and support of assigned production ETL
processes
* Monitor performance of production ETL processes and correct any identified
issues or problems
* Perform root cause analysis on problematic queries and ETL jobs
* Document detailed ETL design and specifications
* Optimize ETL processes for maximum efficiency
* Perform source to target data mapping
* Perform data analysis and profiling on data sources
* Review and assess business rules and project plans
* Collaborate with business users/developers to provide required data,
analysis and reports
* Perform other related duties as assigned or required
* Manage job scheduling using shell scripts
* Design Information Quality & Information Management Governance.
* Assist in the design and development of a data stores, including
requirements gathering, data analysis and the rest of the data warehouse
lifecycle functions.
Requirements
* Minimum of 4 years of formal ETL experience using Datastage
* Ability to multi-task across multiple projects within different contexts
in a fast paced environment
* Extensive hands-on experience designing information driven Business
Intelligence Solutions
* Advanced knowledge of DataStage 8.1 ETL tool and it's administration
* High proficiency in SQL, DB2 and Oracle PL/SQL
* Proficiency using of one or more of major data modeling tools such as
Erwin or Data Architect
* Excellent understanding of data modeling techniques and processes for Data
Warehouse and Data Marts
* Solid experience in query performance analysis, and issue detection
* Excellent understanding of relational and dimensional data models
* Extensive experience in data profiling and data quality analysis
* Experience with data migrations and planning
* Experience in Unix Shell Scripting
* SQL Server 2008 SSIS and 2000 DTS package working knowledge
Minimum Education
* Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering or with a technology
emphasis
Minimum Job Experience
* 6 years of experience in ETL development in a Data Warehouse
environment
* Financial data and/or insurance exposure
Minimum Skills
* Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Strong creative thinking abilities
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and with changing
priorities
