*Location: San Jose, CA* *Duration: 3-6+ Months* Our client in San Jose, CA is looking for a Web Architect / Programmer for a 3-6 month contract with the possibility of extensions. Role: Web Architect / Programmer The client wishes to revamp their intranet and move it from iPlanet to SharePoint. The initiative is driven by the need to move beyond the current aging architecture and design to a new architecture/platform that enhances the user experience and positions the intranet to facilitate business process automation and improvement. The project requires developing a scalable architecture and design for the intranet based on SharePoint. To do this the candidate must understand the business needs and strategic goals from a management perspective as well as tactical requirements from the user community. The candidate will also need to assess and evaluate the current architecture and intranet and then develop the architecture for the new intranet so that it provides a foundation to meet those goals and requirements. The architecture must be flexible so that future needs can be incorporated without resorting to major redesign. The candidate will need to document and present possible alternatives as well as associated risks, benefits and barriers and provide recommendations. The candidate will also lead the building of prototypes as well as development of test scripts and testing. The candidate will also review and update standards as well as document best practices for consistent look and feel, publishing new pages/content, branding and interoperability. The candidate will also develop and lead the implementation of operational practices and procedures to sustain and maintain the new intranet. Skills/Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge and hands on experience in architecting and building intranets and internet sites. Demonstrated experience in gathering and analyzing business requirements and developing technical solutions for those. Must have experience in SharePoint and other internet technologies which includes: - HTML, Java, JavaScript, UML and XML - Web programming, - Web server and Web OS (e.g. SharePoint) administration, - Web security, - Site taxonomy, - site management strategies, - branding and customization. Must be experienced in the use and development of graphic design and content, multimedia content and how to incorporate it into a business site. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have experience in coordinating and guiding similar projects.
