Tonight on DATELINE NBC:
The story of three beautiful little girls at the center of an excruciating battle: A
fight over parents' rights to raise their children the way they see fit.
The girls were taken away from their parents, Ruth and Brian Christine, by the state
of Oregon. Authorities claimed the Christines' lifestyle was putting their girls'
lives at risk. Now in danger of losing their daughters forever, the Christines made a
desperate decision: To take their children back, by force -- armed with a .357 magnum.
Prosecutors say this was a dangerous crime. The defense says it was a desperate rescue
attempt.
Arrested and charged, these young parents are now at risk of losing their daughters
for years, separated not by a state agency, but by the concrete walls of a prison.
