Actually, I don't think so. Remember when I first looked at the ICU stuff
and posted about the problem for the Taiwanese era. Without knowing the
"year 0" for a locale's epoch, we can't use the epoch name.

Actually, I'd expect something like
DateTime::Locale->new( locale => 'en_AU' );

I really think locales need to be immutable, or else users could get
really confused if they don't notice that set line.
You're always welcome to provide a custom subclass like 'en_AU_RM' ;)
