After thinging about this for a few minutes, I remembered why there is no quarter_of_fiscal_year, or period_of_fiscal_year. This is because depending on your particular calendar, something like day 90 could either be the end of the first quarter or third period where you have 12 periods that corespond to calendar months; or day 90 could be the begining or the 2nd quarter and thus the 4th period where you have 13 equal length periods for the year. I actual have methods in my application for finding the correct period, that could then tell the correct quarter based on whether the customer's budget profile is 12 or 13 periods.
I had never really thought about moving these things out of the application, but I guess they could be moved in here and passed the an argument for how periods are calculated, the tough one will be something like a 4-4-5 quarter where each number is the count of weeks in that period.
