It *has* to, because that's the way tons of user will enter dates.  You
absolutely can't leave that format out and still be useful for parsing dates
entered by people.

Ignoring method naming (see earlier message), the programming task is
simple, IMO: just make it a setting.  You can even have a third setting for
"don't allow this format at all, in either order" for people who want to be
paranoid about it.  But I have a ton of web forms that user just expect to
be able to enter "1/31/2002 5 p.m." into, and have it work.  It Can Be Done!

IMO, the idea is to be simple enough, but not so simple that it becomes
useless for one of its stated (by me, natch ;) purposes.
