No, it used to do that, but that caused complaints too ;)

Trust me, if you go through enough different cases, you will find that no matter you do, some people will be surprised by the results for some of the cases. The problem is that people think there's an intuitive answer, but there isn't.

I think the fix is to pick one way that works "good enough" as the default, and document the whole thing really well so that people who need a different answer know how to get it.
