I'm trying to find a _simple_ method of taking a series of a dozen or so
pre-determined locations around the world, a user supplied date, time, and
location indicator, and presenting what date and time that
represents at the pre-determined locations .

For example, a user might want to say:

worlddate 2007-03-12 13:00 eastern

which would mean "what time is it in the predetermined locations if it
is 1:00pm on March 12, 2007 in the eastern standard time zone.

The result that would be desired would look like:

13:00 2006-03-13 OHIO EASTERN
10:00 2006-03-13 CALIFORNIA PACIFIC
11:00 2006-03-13 NEW MEXICO MOUNTAIN
12:00 2006-03-13 ILLINOIS CENTRAL
19:00 2006-03-13 SWITZERLAND MIDDLE EUROPEAN
18:00 2006-03-13 ENGLAND WEST EUROPEAN
20:00 2006-03-13 ISRAEL EAST EUROPEAN
03:00 2006-03-14 JAPAN JAPANESE
21:00 2006-03-13 MOSCOW RUSSIAN
05:00 2006-03-14 EAST MELBOURNE AUSTRALIAN **daylight**

I have a list of fixed geographic locations, and can generally figure out
how to google to locate the timezone names, etc.

But how do I turn the user supplied date and time into the time for the
various timezones, and figure out whether daylight savings time is in
effect?

Thanks.
