Think about it, POP3 is a OPEN/FETCH/DELETE/CLOSE protocol and if the user look at the mailbox, it actually flushes it and the problem does not exist. If the user is not looking at it you can send all notification messages the you want by he won't get them coz he's not looking. The only way it can happen is when the user access the mbox with some sort of local web interface that actually leaves messages inside the mbox. Well in this case the web interface can easily generate the message when it scans the mbox at user login. - Davide
