The VPFE drivers have not yet been forward ported from the 2.6.10 kernel. Remember that the git tree is NOT a product. It is a *community* supported and developed tree, meaning that it is only as good as the contributions it receives (so far, the contributers are few: myself, Komal Shah and David Brownell.) Everyone who has the 2.6.10-based kernel (that means most of you :) are free to take that code and forward port it to the git tree yourselves, instead of waiting for someone else to do it. Part of the community process is to contribute back to that community, not just take. Please don't expect full support from the git tree, and expect even less support if you are not making contributions.
