Hi,

just yesterday I figured out, that the davinci sound driver seems to have
problems with mono. I also wrote an application and told to record only one
channel, and the davinci sound driver confirmed the setting to one channel.
But it just used two channels. With playback it was the same. That seems to
be a bug in the driver. I think that's why NUM_CHANNELS=2 is solving your
problem.

The same program (with alsa oss emulation) on a PC just did (mono or stereo)
what it was told to do.

A word on OSS: The driver seems to be using the 3.0 API and not the 4.0. So
for details please refer to http://www.opensound.com/pguide/ and the OSS v3
Programmer's guide (PDF). That means not that the OSS v4 documentation is
useless, but not all is applicable.

Regards
Leonard Penzer
