Hi,
We are currently using two DVEVM and H.264 encode/decoder to stream data at
D1 between them.
We are not experts on the H.264 codecs and would like some insight on what
you would recommend changing in the configuration for the H.264 encode/decode
to obtain the best quality visually and still stay within our 1Mbps bandwidth
constraint.
Of course, I am assuming that the DVEVM codecs can be tweaked? If not,
please educate us with links to documentation for ones that can be changed and
help us focus on areas with in the H.264 that will greatly enhance the quality
of the streaming video with our current bandwidth limitations.
The following is one idea we came up with:
Our wireless app has a limited amount of bandwidth that can vary anywhere
between 800kbps and 1.2Mbps, so we'd like to limit our max bit rate to around
1Mb/s. But when encoded with a set bit rate at 1Mbps the video seems to have
many horizontal lines show up in it and also gets somewhat blocky when there is
a lot of motion in the recording. If encoded with a variable bit rate the
video looks great even with a lot of motion, but unfortunately we've seen the
bit rate go up above 7Mbps. So we'd like to know if there is any way to adjust
the constant QP value in the variable bit rate mode, to limit the maximum bit
rate. This would cause an overall drop in quality, but we'd like to see how it
would compare to the quality we are seeing at a set bit rate of 1Mbps?
If in the future we plan to add audio (AAC) to this stream is there a way to
keep it in sync with the video stream when sending it using a variable bit rate?
Thanks,
Will
