The TVP5146 AGC gain status register (3Ch - 3Dh) has a coarse gain value and a fine gain value. These two don't return values that are consistent. For example, my development board is reporting a value of 0x28cd - which would imply a coarse gain value of 0x2 (gain of .7) and a fine gain value of 0x8cd (gain of 1.1). The datasheet says that the fine gain "applies independently to coarse gain controls". I don't think the two are cascaded gain stages - or else 4x gain could be applied (2x from each stage). So, can anyone tell me how these work together?
