Laurent, The Vdec2 DMAI module is a convenience module for interfacing other DMAI modules (Display, Ccv, BufTab etc.) with the Codec Engine VISA modules using the DMAI "Buffer" module.
I would recommend that you at least initially start using the Vdec2 module as it will help with you interfacing the DMAI BufTab module which helps with the tricky buffer management of the H.264 decoder on dm6467. See video.c in the decode demo for more info on how this buffer management is done. Note that the buffer management is more demanding on the application in VIDDEC2 vs. VIDDEC when looking at the gstreamer plugin. If you want to make additional VISA calls outside of what Vdec2 provides (it's not a complete wrapper) you can extract the handle using Vdec2_getVisaHandle() and make your own calls. DMAI will be available in the GA version of the DVSDK 1.40, and will support other davinci devices as well. Hi, Has anyone been working with the tools provided in dmai_##? Are these provided by TI for development or for their own purpose? Are they stable when moving to new SDKs? I am developing on DV6467 with dvsdk_1_40_00_11. I have been studying the samples but I am wondering whether it is advisable for example to use Vdec2_ or to go lower level and VIDDEC2_ directly (in the same way Vdec2.c does). I have also checked the ti_plugin for gstreamer which uses lower level. Thanks for advice, Laurent _______________________________________________ Davinci-linux-open-source mailing list [email protected] http://linux.davincidsp.com/mailman/listinfo/davinci-linux-open-source _______________________________________________ Davinci-linux-open-source mailing list [email protected] http://linux.davincidsp.com/mailman/listinfo/davinci-linux-open-source
