Looking at memory maps, it's the DDR controller Peripheral Bus Burst Priority
Register.

Default is FF and this looks to set it to 10:

"Priority raise old counter. Specifies the number of memory transfers after
which the
DDR2/mDDR memory controller will elevate the priority of the oldest command in
the command
FIFO. This bit field must not be set to 0xFF."

It also says:

"Note: Due to an internal DM35x hardware issue, you must not accept the default
bit field value for
PR_OLD_COUNT. The default bit field value for PR_OLD_COUNT is 0xFF, you must
change the value of PR_OLD_COUNT to a value other than 0xFF."

Useful! Shame the EVM kernel + bootloader don't implement this!

Hi,

Beats me - someone at TI sent us the program & told us what to 'poke' ;-)

I would guess the register setting is to do with bus priorities....???

Hi Phil,

thanks for the hint - it's working fine. But what does that line do. Ok, I'm
writing the Value 10 to address 20000020 - but i don't know which register i'm
explicit changing here.

Tino.

Hi,

Yes it does that ;-)

Use the attached program to fix it....

Put a 'writeb 20000020 0 10' into the system start up & the flicker will stop.

Subject: Noise on DM355 LCD interface!

Hii All,

i am a member of dm355 software developer team in my company. we have a problem
with the noise appearing when we starting a software on dm355.
we are using paralel lcd interface (but the problem is same for SVIDEO and
COMPOSITE outputs with analog lcds) and when our software doing a lot of memory
copy and move the screen is getting very noisy. I have tested this by different
king of software and gui and math libraries.
All time during the first startup of software and the memory activity is
getting higher the noise is reaching the top level. All time when ddr ram
activity is high (linux memory copy and move actions) the noise coming high.
Otherwise noise is still standing on the screen but sometimes it becomes
intolerable.

How can we solve this problem ??? Is there anybody have this problem too?? The
noise is appearing as some block of pixels beginning to zigzag horizontally and
some thin group of pixel lines are sliding on screen horizontally again. After
the succesfull starting of the software the noise is getting very very lower.
But when another high memory activity happens the noise is getting higher again.

My kernel is default montavista linux kernel 4.0 i have done the software
updates but the problem is still exists.

Thank you very much for help ad reading. I need all advices and ideas to
consider on.

Serkan Erdogan
