I've seen a lot of posts here about live555, most of them are pretty old
though. I've downloaded and compiled according to the instructions in
this post:

Has anybody used this? How could integrate this with the encode demo to
stream video in real-time to VLC player? Or at least stream a file to
VLC from the dm355?
