Kumar,

There is a limit on the performance of the embedded system imposed by the speed of your kernel and your hardware, so to first know what are the max throughput you may get from your platform, you should try to perform a loopback throughput test. I usually use the iperf tool for this sort of testing.

There is some bias on the test due the overhead of running the server and client software on the same board, but you should also account that on real environment there is overhead on the real transmission and response too.

Bottom line is that I have never seen board with the processing power of the DM355 provide more than 30MB/s.

Hi,
We are trying to improve the ethernet performance on the DM355 EVM. The
current performance index as per the TI driver guide is about 26
MBits/s. I was wondering if the current driver uses DMA ? If uses DMA ,
what are the other areas to work on to improve performance.

We would ideally like to improve it to 50 MBits/sec.

Thanks
Kumar
