For SD, we saw the problem went away after the patch. But for HD we still see
the flickering by simply typing on the console, since it is very CPU demanding.
DM355 may have some hardware constraints in displaying multiple windows in HD
mode....

How did you solve the Problem?

Thanks, Tino.

We saw the flickering problem in SD as well as HD mode. The problem is due to
insufficient CPU bandwidth was allocated to display the image. Running the
patch means you increase the bandwidth allocation, which may resolve the
problem in SD mode but that may not be enough for HD.

Thanks
Owen

Subject: RE: Framebuffer on dm355

Hi,

I'm working with the DM355-EVM and I connected an 1024x768 LCD-Panel to it.
Since I changed the resolution in the dm355-framebuffer driver from PAL to
1024x768, I have a lot of flicker on the screen. It's getting better when I
disable the OSD1, VID0 and VID1 Framebuffer - but when I work with the board
(cause some ethernet traffic or something else), it is flickering again. I also
tried the 'writeb 20000020 0 10' patch, but the flicker ain't away.
You wrote, you can use the DM355 with a 1680x1023 (or like Owen: 1920x1080)
resolution. Did you have the same problem like me before?

Best Regards,
Tino.

Hi,

We were able to display 1920x1080 image on frame buffer device. There's no
restriction on the image height in the driver as such, as long as you've
reserved enough buffer.

Subject: Framebuffer on dm355

Hi All,

Now I have added the support of 1680x1050 resolution on dm355, I have measured
the signal (HSYNC,VSYNC etcs) using oscilloscope. But when I set the size of
framebuffer using "fbset -fb /dev/fb/1 -xres 1680 -yres 1050 -vxres 1680 -vyres
2100 -depth 16",I can not get the right display for 1680x1050 resolution, It
only displayed a small part about 27 lines. If I set the framebuffer as
1680x1023, It can work well. It seemed that the height of framebuffer can not
be more than 1024. Please give me some help. Thanks.

Best Regards

Jeff
