I am using EVM 3503 (MISTRAL EVM) which has OMAP 3530 on it.
Please let me know if we can do the resizing of the 420 yuv file to 422
(UYVY) format using HW.
How do we configure the HW resizer and invoke it?

Re: YVU420 and YUV 420

Hi Ravi,

Please describe which EVM board you are using and the technology. Because
there are few differences in each.
In all chips, capture n display supports YUV 422 format only.
Encoding/Decoding formats differ in different architecture i.e can be
YUV422 and YUV420. TI EVM's have separate modules to perform chroma
conversion and resize operation, which don't take much time.

Only difference between YVU420 and YUV420 is that U and V data are
swapped. If you select incorrect format in this case than you will observe
the color information to be inverted, but display will be proper.

Hope this helps you

Deepika

Hi All,

In the codec engine framework supported by TI, there are file formats like

YVU420 and YUV420
What is the difference between them?

I have a project which generates a yuv file in YUV420 format.
To display the file on a EVM board, I need to convert the file into YUV
422 format,( which is taking quite a lot of time.) or into YVU422 format
I supposed that conversion from YUV420 to YVU420 will be an easy task. But

even after that, I am not able to get a proper displayon the board.
It turns out to be a garbage image.

Please guide me on what this YVU420 format is.
Also please provide info on better algos to convert YUV420 to YUV422.

Thanks,
