as you can see from the connection string jdbc:informix-sqli://address:port/dbName:informixserver=dbServerName it is NOT necessary to do this in JAVA! Neither for Informix nor for any other DBMS since the connection string is the only necessary information. ;-) But thank you for the link to the documentation.
