Hi,
I was having trouble reaching various URL's also. I had installed Broadband Wizard
from Kissco.com. I believe it had
created a HOSTS (no extension) file in my C:\\WINDOWS directory to keep track of URL's
IP address to avoid performing a
DNS address lookup each time I accessed a URL.
I also was able to use a feature at the http://spamcop.net/ web site to determine the
IP address of a URL and I would
use the IP address to access the web page. However, that feature does not seem to be
available to me any longer(I am not
a subscriber).
I later uninstalled this product but the HOSTS file remained. during some research on
one of the Netscape discussion
lists other people were having this same problem and the solution was to rename the
HOSTS (no extension) file in the
C:\\WINDOWS directory. After I did that, I had no problems accessing the URL's that I
could not access before.
