You should have no problems importing DEL files from 5.2 into the 7.1 database. You
could also take a backup of the 5.2 DB and restore it into 7.1 if you want to take the
whole DB as is. I have done this with no problem. It's far quicker than performing
individual table imports.

I know going from 5.2 to 6 you could do a restore with a redirect and it would convert
the database
as part of the restore, but I don't know if this would work going to 7.1

    Subject: DB2EUG: UDB 5.2 to 7.1 upgrade

    Hi,

Sorry for bringing this topic up again ...

We've just installed UDB DB2 7.1 on a brand new NT server and I need to transfer
one of our development databases across from an existing DB2 5.2 NT server. I'm
planning on doing an export of the data from the old 5.2 and then import to the new
7.1 server. Would I be correct in assuming that this process would work as long as I
do not perform the export/import by using file type of IXF, but instead opt for the
DEL format?

    Thanks,
    Milorad
