The docs on DB2 Connect v7.1 wrt connection pooling look VERY nice. Now I
have two questions.

1) With connection pooling working nicely between DB2 Connect EE to OS390
V6, do I still need my own Java connection pooling code from the Java
application to DB2 Connect? We had installed this shareware code before
DB2 Connect v7.1 went GA.

====================================================================
2) Seems I do have a basic choice to make

         a) Direct connect from webserver to OS390 DB2 V6 (refresh 6/2000)

         b) Connection from same webserver through DB2 Connect EE v7.1 on
an intermediate box to OS390 DB2 V6.

I'm quite fuzzy about connection pooling. Do I get the best performance by
funneling all webservers through ONE copy of DB2 Connect EE, using its
connection pooling?

Or if I go directly from webserver to mainframe would I need to employ my
own Java connection pooling code, resident on each webserver that needs
direct connection to mainframe?

Thanks.
