I guess for the WAS database u need to create an alias configuring it as a remote 
database.  Then connect to the database.

db2 CATALOG TCPIP NODE nwas REMOTE <hostname> SERVER <port #>
db2 CATALOG DB was AS wasAlias AT NODE nwas

Now in the admin.config file change the database name from was to wasAlias.
