Depending on what client OS you are using to connect to your NT box
determines whether it is possible or not. With Windows 2000 as the client
you can use the Microsoft Management Console to start and stop services on
a remote machine. I've done this with Windows 2000 Server and Professional
but according to the documentation you can do it on an NT 4.0 box also.
Here's from the help documentation for the Services Snap in: "Manage
services on local and remote computers, including remote computers running
WindowsNT 4.0. "

To do this I did the following:
     1. start\run\mmc.exe
     2. Console\Add/Remove Snap in
     3. Click on Add
     4. Scroll down to Services and click Add
     5. Select "Another Computer" and enter the computer name to connect
to
     6. Click on Finish
     7. Click on Close
     8. Click on OK
     9. In the tree view for the conolse click on Services
     10. Then you can start and stop services from the list of services
available.

Now the sticky part. If you want to start or stop the default instance
(Created during install of DB2) or the admin instance you can do that. You
will need to create services for your other instances if you want to be
able to control them in this way.
