Not an answer to the question, but why wouldn't you use pipes and just
compress it on the fly?

Subject: [DB2EUG] Restore Database from multiple backup files

Hello,

I backup one of my DB2 UDB v7.2 databases to five paths because the backup
is too big to fit on one drive. Now I'm trying to do a redirected restore of
it, and I'm running low on disk space after allocating all my destination
DMS containers. Will the restore utility allow me to restore from one or two
of those backup files at a time and then allow me to delete them when the
restore is ready for the next file? If this is possible, it would save me a
lot of disk space and headaches.

Thanks,

Fred Sobotka
