Hi Phil,
We are using the MQ and the MQ XML functions in UDB V7.2 to pick up messages sent from our mainframe to a Solaris UDB server.
We are using a local MQ queue manager on the database server however I see no reason why it shouldn't work with a remote queue manager given it uses the MQ AMI interface which supports remote queue managers.
When you enable a database for the MQ functions it tries to create a default MQSeries environment, including a default queue manager and queue, this may fail if you only have an MQ client installed on the database server. I can't say for sure since we haven't tried this.
Let me know if you need any further information.
Regards
Rob Mills

Anyone using the built-in UDFs to interface to MQ ?
My question is : do you need a local MQ queue manager on the DB2 server,
or can you use a remote queue manager.
Forgive me if this is a stupid question, since I know very little about
MQ.
TIA
Phil Nelson
