You are correct.

Look at db2look, which reverse-engineers a DB2 database into a DDL script.
It can be run while the database is active. I've used it to create build
scripts for test environments by running db2look on production. Some people
even use db2look to extract production statistics (indexes, tables, etc)
and load them into test in order to trick the optimizer into behaving like
it does on production. Overall, db2look is an excellent tool.
