Hello all,

I wanted to quickly pass along some information about IDUG North America,
and ask that you consider submitting an abstract for the 2004 conference,
which will be held in Orlando, Florida. I realize the actual conference
is not until May 2004, but it is never too soon to think about submitting a
presentation topic. The deadline for submitting an abstract is September
19th, 2003.

As many of you are aware, IDUG is a user focused, user run conference that
offers a program combining technical content with real world user
experiences. Many of our best presentations have come from innovative
users of DB2, working at companies just like yours.

If you are interested in sharing your DB2 experience and knowledge with a
professional gathering of your peers, why not take a few minutes to fill
out an online abstract submission form. All that is required is a
presentation title, a concise abstract of approximately 50 words and a few
short bullet points outlining your topic.

For more information, or to submit an abstract visit

http://conferences.idug.org/namerica/2004/index.cfm

- Select "Call for Presentation Application" from the drop down box to
submit a presentation abstract.

- Select "Call for Presentation Submission Guidelines" from the drop down
box for presentation guidelines, due dates, and additional information.

If your abstract is selected, then your conference registration fee will be
waived which represents nearly a $1,700 savings to your company. (Dual
presenters are eligible for one free conference registration and a second
registration at a reduced fee.) Also, user speakers are eligible for the
best user speaker award, which is determined based on attendee feedback

Please review some of the sample topics below for ideas on potential IDUG
presentations, and of course we are always looking for new subjects.

- Methodologies and techniques that your company has developed for testing,
debugging, or monitoring your DB2 based applications.

- Application designs or database schemes that you have employed to avoid
locking conflicts, increase availability, improve performance, or ensure
data integrity.

- Innovative uses of DB2 in the area of information integration involving
distributed processing, web services or other eBusiness functionality.

- Experiences and testimonials describing the conversion of your company's
critical business data from another DBMS or data storage system into DB2.

- Strategies or procedures that you have found useful for managing
databases that contain many objects, have a large number of tables, or
require special indexing considerations (ERPs or in-house developed
systems).

- Initiatives undertaken by your company to reduce outages of your DB2
based applications from an availability, performance or scalability
perspective.

-Data Warehouse implementations on DB2 UDB that you have developed that
provide business users with access to timely information, including DB2
experiences with ETL, BI or Data Mining tools.

If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact me off-line
at [EMAIL PROTECTED] or visit the IDUG web site at www.idug.org.
