By registering for the conference, you are eligible to take the DB2 UDB
certification tests for free. The tests are offered all day long throughout
the conference. IBM offers this service at the yearly IDUG conference as
well as the IBM Data Mgmt Tech Conference. The tests are multiple-choice,
delivered by a computer, and take about 45 minutes to complete. Many people
schedule their tests during the early part of the conference, which allows
them enough time to retake the test during the conference if they fail.
The online assessment tests are online at http://certify.torolab.ibm.com
IBM recently added a new certification specifically for problem
determination. These sites contain more information about that exam:
http://www-3.ibm.com/software/data/support/pdm/db2exam.html
and
http://www-3.ibm.com/cgi-bin/db2www/data/db2/udb/winos2unix/support/tutorial_main.d2w/toc
Some of the certification exams are covered in full-day seminars held the
day before the conference, but they cost extra (around $300 or $400). The
certification preparation guides published by IBM and Prentice-Hall are
also very helpful.
Good luck,
Fred Sobotka
