Excellent company is is looking for an experienced IBM DB2 DBA who has extensive experience with DB2 in a business intelligence /data warehouse (BI/DW) application environment.
This position will be based out of Boston Massachusetts or Lansing Michigan. Salary is up to 115K depends on experience and 10% bonus. Travel will be required (minimum of 50%) for this position. No H-1B candidates please. *Description: This individual must have an appreciation of the general methodology for business intelligence/data warehouse application development and take the lead technical role in the physical design, implementation and tuning of the DB2 database to fulfill the business requirements of the BI/DW application. This individual will lead the design of the physical DB2 database,working closely with the team members responsible for logical data modeling, ETL design and data access design, to adapt their designs to ensure appropriate performance and usability with respect to the physical DB2 data bases that will be implemented. This individual will also make significant contributions to defining the configuration of both the software environment and the hardware platform upon which the BI/DW application will run. * Requirements: -A minimum of 5 years of recent experience in the technical design and development of DB2 business intelligence/data warehouse/data mart solution in mainframe and open systems environments. -Experience with one or more business intelligence tools (such as Hummingbird BI, COGNOS, Business Objects, etc.) is required. -IBM Professional Certification for DB2 Information Management Software is also required: IBM Certified Database Administrator, and Advance Administrator (DB2 UDB V8.1 for Linux, UNIX and Windows); and IBM Certified Solution Designer DB2 Business Intelligence V8. -Expert level experience with IBM DB2 UDB Data Warehouse Edition (Enterprise Server, Database Partitioning, Cube Views, Intelligent Miner Modeling, Visualization and Scoring, Office Connect, Query Patroller, Warehouse Manager, and Information Integrator) -Recent and significant experience in architecting solutions and/or in providing technical support using DB2 in large data warehousing environments are mandatory requirements. -DB2 experience should include data access design, ETL design (emphasis on data loading), disk layout, table space management, partitioning, Materialized Query Tables (MQTs), Cube Views, Query Patroller, Work Load Manager, use of IBM Warehouse Manager, Query Access Plans, Query Scheduling, Query Explains, Run Stats and other performance enhancement (tuning) and capacity planning capabilities. -Familiarity with ERwin, metadata repositories (for technical as well as end-user metadata) and ETL tools is desirable. -Healthcare experience is desired. -Travel will be required (minimum of 50%) for this position. -U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is also required.
