Hi Isaac,
Which version of DB2 are you installing? I just installed DB2 V8.1 on a
clean RH Linux 8.0 (Intel P3) with no problems. I believe RH Linux 9 has
the new threading model, but previous versions do not. Do you have an
existing JDK? If so, try removing it and installing DB2 V8.1, which
installs the 1.3.1 JRE. IBM developerWorks has a lot of tech articles on
this subject. For example, see
http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/library/l-ss3-db2/

Hello folks,
We are having a problem installing DB2 on a Linux System (Intel P3 PC).
There is a JAVA problem when trying to run the db2setup that we can't seem
to work around. The error message is:
/usr/local/096_RTCL_LNX_32_NLV/db2/linux/install/db2jinst: line 131: 26936
Segmentation fault $JAVA_PATH/$JAVA_INTERPRETER $JAVA_OPTIONS -cp
$JAVA_CLASSPATH $DB2SetupRun "$@" 2>/tmp/db2setup.err.running
I've heard that the problem is that RedHat changed the threading model in
the Linux kernel and
this is incompatible to the JDK but I don't know how to get around it.
The Linux Version is 7.3 (We got the same error message with Linux 9.1
loaded).
thanks...
