An easier way to reproduce: Starting Base using the KDE-Menu or start it from 
the cmd-line with soffice -base: 
<Database Wizard: What do you want to do?> 
Select: Connect to an existing database 
Try to find HsqlDB 
 
->Cancel (then use another tool to open your DB...) 
 
Database Wizard: usage in this context?:  
Normaly I have to open an existing DB (is hard enough) 
 
PS: 48110 now Closed (PATH was not changed to openoffice2)
