> if you connect to the Mysql DB do you use "MySQL -> ODBC" or direktly "ODBC"?

I use "MySQL -> ODBC"

> Which version of MySQl and ODBC do you use?

:~$ mysql --version
mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.12-beta, for pc-linux-gnu (i486) using readline 5.0

:~$ odbcinst --version
unixODBC 2.2.11

I use the library package libmyodbc 3.5.11-5
----------------------------------------
Let's see, if I can get type decimal if I upgrade to the latest versions of the
relevant packages. This includes oo v2.0.1
<hits the big red upgrade button>

Now the versions are:
   unixODBC 2.2.11
   mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.18
   openofficce ooo-build-2.0.1

Still, I can't change Text(fix) to decimal.
-------------------

I tried with ODBC directly:
I could build and correctly save a table (Checked that with phpmysqladmin). But
after reloading oobase did not know about the columns of the new table. Tables
that had existed before could not be modified at all (All edit buttons
disabled).

Maybe a connection to a postgres data base via ODBC will be more successfull...
