------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Jul 26 07:05:46 -0700 2006 ------- Well, right, this is a serious issue - that's why I moved it from P4 to P3, since P4 is definately not appropriate. Why I think it's still P3: For 2.0, our main focus was to create a standalone database application with a self-contained file-based database backend. That's the strategic decision made, and that's what we spent our limited resources for. This "project" is not done, yet. This audience - SOHO users wanting to have a desktop database application - has been designated as the target audience for the 2.0 release, and that's the reason why connecting to external database, though still supported, is simply not in the main focus at the moment. Please do not misunderstand me: As said, the issue is still important (that's the reason why it's on "2.x", not on "OOo Later"), but simply not the kind of thing we can handle with absolute priority ATM. I still hope we can address this in a reasonable time frame ... Side note: That's an open source project, and if somebody of you has a business need for this particular bug to be fixed, you're seriously invited to fund a developer looking into the problem. S/he'll certainly get all needed support from our core team. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
