I think we're not yet down to the complete problem description.
First, I'm pretty sure Base doesn't include values of read-only controls, nor
any other controls which were not touched by the user or scripts, in the
INSERT/UPDATE statement. You were not precise about how you come to claim this -
is it from observing an error message, or is it from logging what was sent to
the DB. I assume the former ... If so, please describe in detail what you are
doing, what you expect to happen, and what (instead) happens. If you encounter
error messages, please cite them.
IIRC, there are known problems with PostgreSQL auto increment fields, and there
definitely are known problems with fields which are declared NOT NULL, and have
a database-side default value. Base's forms, in this case, force the user to
enter values into the respective controls, since it doesn't know about the
server-side default value.
Is it possible you ran into this problem? If so, issue 78987 might be for you
...
