I would not like to add to much of this kind of magic. I'm surprised it works in
the parameter dialog ...

18/11/07 is a valid date only for the en-GB locale (and probably some others I
don't know), neither in en-US nor in de-* this is a valid date representation.

What I think makes sense is to recognize, upon input,
- the date format as specified in the column formatting
- the ISO date format YYYY-MM-DD (this is always good, as this is a common
  denominator in all locales)
- the default date format for the system locale
- *perhaps* the default date format for the document locale

Everything is is magic, and as such, prone to future breakage.


Allowing to enter 18/11/07 just because it's convenient to do so via the numeric
keypad is, btw., locale-specific, too: No American would ever want to input her
dates this way, as would probably no Dutch or Finish or <whatever> user.

So, when we implement locale-(you might read this as: culture-)specific input
recognitions, then certainly not those justified by convenience only, as this
might turn out to be pandora's box, if we would do this for all locales for
which OOo is available.
