Ah ... there is a misunderstanding here.
First, the "dummy" in the report in the bug doc for issue 78685 is in fact a
real column - look up the table data, there's a column "dummy", having the same
value for all rows. I remember I used this column since at the time the report
was created in fact fictitious groups were not possible at all.
What *does* work today are fictitious groups based on numeric constants. That
is, you can simply add a "1" (without the quotes) as group expression - this
will work fine.
So, I'm closing this as INVALID - the requested functionality is available, just
in another way than you assumed.
