The problem is iodbc version 3.52.5. When using iodbc3.52.6 from
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=90493 and compile it
./configure --prefix=/usr --with-iodbc-odbcini=/Library/ODBC
./make
sudo ./make install
it works.
