Summary:
OOo 3.2.0 works fine, assuming that copying-pasting dates as numeric values
is NOT ALLOWED - (Warning message can be interpreted by someone who knows
Java).
OOo 3.1.1 allows to use numeric formatting but the date is 2 days off. If
formatting "language" is different than the locale then copy-paste does not work
correctly. Since 3.2 will be released soon, I am not reporting this as an Issue
for 3.1.1
Description:
In OOo 3.1.1 I was unable to copy DATE cells with “Polish” language formatting
to create Tables in BASE. The Month and Day was reversed if day <= 12, or
created a wrong date if day > 12.
Therefore I tried to use numeric formatting of the DATE and it worked, except
the date was 2 days off.
In OOo 3.2.0 the “Polish” formatting seems to work fine and the date fields are
correct, however now the fields formatted as numeric create “Wrong data type
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException”.
Thus, now BASE does not allows copy-paste dates as numeric values, and it is OK,
I think, except the error message is somehow not very informative for regular
users.
Finally in Calc 3.1.1 I copied-pasted my Tables by setting the formatting to
“English (USA)” instead of “Polish” and pasting them to BASE; it worked fine.
Attached are 4 files, for reference and below there is a detailed description,
