Ok let us work with one issue at a time.
Checked w/ XP, OOo3.2
To reproduce.
Download and open the first example database.
Open the table editor for table "Inventory"
Change the field length for field "Locaton"
Save the changes.
The existing string in the 'Default value' property is lost.
