Please rename user profile and follow steps the user forum topic:

The steps same as you did, only not cleared user profile and this cause your
problems.
The apt/synaptic update needs only for Debian/Ubuntu source of OOo.
Install SUN Java for Base and Wizards, OOo from OOo site works only with this
version, not with java installed default on Ubuntu.
