Tim,
I found that I had multiple Oracle homes under my installation (the result
of attempting to install Oracle Designer and the pain/troubles that caused).
The problem was that Makefile.PL found my Last Oracle home, which was NOT,
in fact, my default Oracle home. This may be a patch that requires
discussion with others who wrote the code, but, I thought it was the "right"
way to do it. Oracle's readme about multiple homes indicates the default
home is, by definition, the first one in the path. Of course, comments
about code quality are welcome!
There is a caveat, however, that if you use the Oracle home switcher, that
you need to restart your command processor to successfully "inherit" the new
PATH.
