Yes, the type was intentional. I cannot remember that the field length is to
be fetched through {PRECISION} and I *always* type {LENGTH} which is far more
intuitive for (var)char fields.
Would it be possible to alias PRECISION to LENGTH from the user perspective?
Supporting that from the DBD side is easy as pie, but there is no way to get
that through to DBI's brain :(
Another disadvantage is that PRECISION is very type sensitive, especially for
the non-native english.
