I think including it in the tarball in a private non-installed

(or a subdirectory)?
Not sure, I think that unknown directories are just ignored by ExtUtils::MakeMaker. I know that I had to explicitly tell it to build stuff in a bin directory in one of my other modules.

I just realized that these changes will require that we re-create MANIFEST. I'll be sure to do that, too.
