Neither would I, BUT … perl-5.14.2 and newer with OpenSSL-1.0.0 or newer and DBD::Oracle does not work for quite a few of our applications when linking DBD::Oracle to the 10g client that is available in the 10g database environment. The client is not (yet) willing to move on to 11g or 12c, so the 10g is there to stay. Being a perl-hacker one tries to find a way to make it work :) The whole thing worked fine (same OS, same perl, same version of DBI and DBD::Oracle and the same version of OpenSSL) under a 12c install environment, so the obvious solution is to try to get DBD::Oracle linked against 12c client libraries working in the 10g environment to make the client, and thus us, happy. > Chris > > > 1.
